An open shit is a type of shift that is not assigned to an employee when it is created. Open shifts are useful for finding volunteers (making a call to all 📣) to fill a work shift.

After you have created and published your open shifts, employees who meet the following criteria can volunteer:

  1. Have the same location as the open shift

  2. Have the same position as the open shift

  3. Do not have approved time off

  4. Do not have a scheduled shift that conflicts

    *For Plus plan users, you can enable this by activating this setting

    “Settings” -> “Schedule Management”

You can then assign the shift to the volunteer of your choice.

1- Assigning an open shift via the schedule

To assign an open shift to a volunteer via the schedule, first click on the open shift to directly in the schedule.

Next;

  1. Click on the “Volunteers” section at the top of the window.

  2. Click on the volunteer of your choice.

  3. Click on “Assign”.

2- Assigning an open shift via the open shift requests

To assign a shift to be filled to a volunteer via shift requests:

  1. Move your cursor over the “Schedule” tab

  2. Select the “Open shifts” option

  3. Then click on the desired request

  4. Click on “Assign this open shift”

  5. Select the employee of your choice (you can use filters to help you select a volunteer)

  6. Click on “Assign”
