The Tax information tab of each employee’s profile brings together two things: their tax forms and their workers’ compensation values.
Tax forms
Tax forms tell payroll how much income tax to withhold for an employee (e.g., personal credits, additional withholdings).
Open the employee’s profile, then the Tax information tab.
Under Tax forms, click Add.
Choose the form type: for example TD1 (federal), the provincial TD1, or TP-1015.3 for Québec.
Fill in the fields from the form signed by the employee. A link to the official government form is shown to guide you.
Enter the effective date, then save.
The table lists each form with its jurisdiction (Federal or Provincial) and its effective date.
Note: without a form, payroll applies the government’s basic amounts. Only add a form if the employee has given you one.
Workers’ compensation
These values are used to calculate your workers’ compensation premium (CNESST in Québec, WCB/WSIB elsewhere) on every payroll.
Setting the organization’s default values
Go to Settings → Payroll.
In the Workers’ compensation section, click Add.
Choose the province of employment, then enter the premium rate, the classification code and the industry sector.
These default values are filled in automatically when you add a workers’ compensation entry to an employee.
Adding the values to an employee
In the employee’s Tax information tab, click Add workers’ compensation.
The fields are pre-filled from their province’s default values. Adjust them if needed.
Optional: enter the insurable earnings already reported this year (useful mid-year, during a migration).
Save.
The contribution then appears in the Remittances tab of each payroll, under Workers’ compensation.
